Athlete Spotlight rules and eligibility
These rules govern the ScoutSync Athlete Spotlight program, including Athlete of the Week and Athlete of the Month recognition.
Eligibility
- Open to athletes age 13 and over who are currently competing at high school or college level, in any sport, in any country.
- Middle school only, youth club only, and professional athletes are not eligible at launch.
- There is no cost to nominate and no purchase of any kind is required.
Who may nominate
- The athlete, a parent or guardian, a coach, a teammate, a club, a school, or an event organizer.
- If the nomination did not come from the athlete, ScoutSync contacts the athlete, or the guardian when the athlete is under 18, before publishing anything.
How selections are made
- Every nomination is reviewed by the ScoutSync editorial team against verified evidence: stat lines, results, official sources, film, and coach or staff confirmation.
- Selection is editorial judgment, not a popularity contest. Fan votes never decide the outcome.
- One Athlete of the Week is selected each week. Athletes of the Month are chosen from the weekly selections.
Recognition
- Athlete of the Week receives a digital badge, a social feature, and consideration for the monthly award.
- Athlete of the Month receives a ScoutSync Trophy and one complimentary 1:1 athlete assessment with a ScoutSync Legend.
- Legend sessions are matched by availability and experience fit.
- Trophies are shipped by ScoutSync staff. Shipping timelines vary by country and customs.
Consent, privacy, and media
- Nomination contact details stay private. They are never published.
- Published athlete details are limited to full name, sport, position, class, height, weight, team, state, and country, plus approved story and media.
- Athletes under 18 require a parent or guardian media release before ScoutSync publishes their name, photo, or video. Judging is not delayed by that step.
- Media submitted for a selected athlete may be used by ScoutSync across its website, social channels, and marketing. Media is used only with consent, and consent can be withdrawn by emailing contact@scoutsync.com.
No guarantee
- Recognition is editorial. ScoutSync makes no guarantee of NIL, scholarship, recruiting contact, a roster spot, or representation.
- ScoutSync is not affiliated with the NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, or any state athletic association for the purposes of this program.
- Athletes and families remain responsible for their own eligibility and NIL compliance under their governing body's rules.
Disqualification
- Falsified stats, misattributed film, impersonation, or submissions without the athlete's knowledge disqualify a nomination.
- ScoutSync may decline, pause, or withdraw any recognition at its discretion.
