Loris Sieber | Switzerland | Canada
Excerpt: Two months after moving from Zurich, Switzerland, to Mississauga, Canada, Loris Sieber shares his first impressions of school, his first competitive game for Football North JV, adjusting to life abroad, and the next challenge ahead.
Two Months into Building the Foundation of His Dream
ScoutSync: Loris, you’re two months into your first season abroad in Mississauga, Canada. Give us the honest first impression: how has it been?
Loris Sieber: It’s hard to believe two months have already passed since I landed in Canada. Camp days have ended, school has started, I’ve played my first game for Football North JV, and I’m slowly settling into a rhythm here.
The move from Zurich to Canada has brought a new school, a new team, a new football environment, and a different daily routine. Each part has required adjustment, but the foundation is beginning to take shape.

Back to School
ScoutSync: Let’s talk school first. What was the biggest surprise walking into Clarkson Secondary?
Loris Sieber: My first week of school didn’t start until last Wednesday, so it was a short introduction to life at Clarkson Secondary. The biggest shock came quickly: I only have three classes a day, which does work out to about the same amount of class time as the five periods back home in Switzerland.
Honestly, my first reaction was a bit of concern. With that much free time in the schedule, I’m a little worried it could get boring fast if I don’t stay focused.
For now, I’m treating it as an adjustment I’ll have to manage. The same way I’ve had to manage everything else since arriving.
School is now part of the balance. Football remains a major focus, but staying organized and engaged academically is also part of making the opportunity work.

Game Against Glenville
ScoutSync: You played your first competitive game for Football North JV against Glenville, Cleveland, Ohio. How did it go?
Loris Sieber: The big highlight of the last four weeks was our game against Glenville, my first real test against American competition.
A big first achievement was securing my spot as a starting Defensive End. I’m proud of that, and I’m genuinely happy with how I played.
I picked up a tackle for loss and half a sack, and while I lost contain a couple of times during the game, it didn’t take away from how I feel about my overall performance.
Looking at the game, I’m satisfied, and I think the coaches are happy with where I’m at for game one. We’re excited to keep building on it.
The important thing was the result: a team win, 46–26!
For a player entering a new football environment, the first competitive game provides an important reference point. Loris experienced the speed and physical demands of American competition, contributed to the defense, and identified areas where he can continue to improve.
Key takeaway: A strong first game is not about being perfect. It is about competing, learning, contributing, and building from the experience.
Settling In / Missing the Mountains
ScoutSync: Beyond football and school. How are you adjusting to life in Canada day-to-day?
Loris Sieber: Off the field, I feel like I’ve adjusted well to life in Canada. The routine, the people, the pace of things here: it’s all starting to feel normal.
If there’s one thing I really miss, it’s the mountains. Mississauga is a very flat area, and coming from Zurich, that’s been a bigger adjustment than I expected.
It’s a small thing, but it’s the one part of home I notice every day.
Moving abroad involves more than changing teams or crossing a border. It means learning a new routine, adapting to a different community, and finding a way to feel settled while still missing familiar parts of home.

Looking Ahead
ScoutSync: What are you most looking forward to over the next stretch of the season?
Loris Sieber: Two months down, and there’s still a lot ahead: more school, more games, and more growth on and off the field.
One of the season’s highlights will take place the weekend of September 25th. We’ll travel to Massillon, Ohio, to play against the Massillon Tigers.
Based on what other players on my team have told me, we’ll be welcomed by approximately 5,000 Tigers fans in the stadium. I can’t wait to feel that energy!
The Massillon game will bring another major test for Loris and Football North. It will also provide a new environment, a larger crowd, and another opportunity to apply what he has learned during his first months in Canada.
Loris’s Next-Stage Checklist
✓ Continue building on his first Football North JV game.
✓ Stay focused at school and manage the additional free time.
✓ Keep developing as a Defensive End.
✓ Learn from mistakes, including missed contain assignments.
✓ Prepare for the atmosphere and challenge in Massillon.
✓ Continue growing on and off the field.

Closing Words
ScoutSync: Last word. What would you say to a young European athlete sitting at home right now dreaming about this kind of opportunity?
Loris Sieber: I’m grateful for the support of my family on this journey. I want to make them proud and do something special in football.
I’m also deeply thankful to ScoutSync for helping find this ideal fit, and to Football North for helping me grow as a player and person every day.
