Get Seen. Get Scouted.: What a U.S. Soccer Legend Wants to See in Your Highlight Video

Get Seen. Get Scouted.: What a U.S. Soccer Legend Wants to See in Your Highlight Video
Talent is everywhere. Visibility is not.
Every year, talented players in Lagos, Accra, Indianapolis and Los Angeles miss out on opportunities. Usually they had the ability. What they didn't have was a way for the right people to see it.
On Thursday, October 29, ScoutSync and our partner DFDI are bringing together two people who have spent their careers on both sides of that problem. They'll tell you exactly what to show, how to show it, and what to do next.
Video is the starting point, wherever you play
College coaches, academy directors and agents can't attend every match. Most first evaluations happen on a screen.
That makes video a requirement, not an extra. It doesn't matter whether you play in Ohio or Abuja. If there's no footage, you're not in the conversation.
The good news: you don't need a professional film crew. You need the right clips, in the right order, presented the right way.
Desmond Armstrong: what scouts actually look for
Desmond Armstrong is a National Soccer Hall of Famer and one of the defenders who helped put U.S. Soccer back on the world stage. He earned 81 caps for the U.S. Men's National Team. He played for the U.S. at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, then at the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy, the country's first World Cup in 40 years. Today he is a member of the ScoutSync Legends Network, where he works directly with players on the same standards he was held to.
He'll break down:
What belongs in a highlight video, and what to leave out
How long it should be, and what the first 30 seconds need to show
Why full-match footage matters alongside highlights
The habits and moments that make a scout keep watching

Boma Ekiyor: building your path from Africa
Boma Ekiyor is a licensed FIFA agent and co-founder of the Danish Football Development Initiative (DFDI). He also founded the Youth Converts Foundation, which uses football to build leadership and social responsibility in young Nigerians. His work sits exactly where many African players get stuck: between local talent and international decision-makers.
About DFDI, our partner. DFDI was co-founded by Boma and Danish UEFA Pro coach Denni Conteh. It began in Lagos in 2018 and has run five editions in Abuja and Lagos, including a program for women players. Its week-long camps bring European scouts and coaches to Nigeria to train, evaluate and develop players. They pair technical fundamentals with leadership training: showing up on time, hard work, dedication.
The results are real. At the November 2025 edition in Lagos, more than 140 players aged 16–19 were assessed and 55 were shortlisted for final evaluation. DFDI players have moved to Viborg in Denmark and signed in Portugal. That edition also introduced professional filming to build individual player profiles, the same lesson this webinar teaches: footage opens the door.
DFDI is a ScoutSync partner. Together we're making sure the players DFDI develops on the field stay visible after the camp ends, with their video, evaluations and progress in one ScoutSync Online profile.
He'll speak directly to African athletes about:
What it takes to get noticed from outside the U.S. and Europe
How to create strong footage with the resources you have
What agents and programs need to see before they take the next step
The mistakes that slow players down, and how to avoid them
One place for everything that follows
A great highlight video is the start. What happens next depends on whether your information is organized and easy to find.
ScoutSync Online gives every athlete a digital passport. Your video, stats, evaluations and development history live in one profile that travels with you.
That means you can be developed, recruited, mentored and educated from one place. You don't have to scatter links across group chats and inboxes.
Coaches see the full picture faster. You spend less time chasing attention and more time improving.
